Application instructions Leadax Flashing
General guidelines
- Leadax Flashing should be applied at temperatures above 5 °C.
- Always make sure the surface is dry and free of grease and dust before applying Leadax.
- Leadax lead replacements must be installed with a slope to prevent the risk of standing water.
- Leadax must be installed without tension or sagging.
- Remove the upper protective foil only after processing, no later than 30 days.
- For optimal application, round the corners at overlaps and joints as much as possible.
- To ensure a watertight connection, always seal seams and edges with Leadax High-Tack sealant.
- Leadax is suitable for use on most substrates, provided they are clean, dry, and grease-free.
Leadax Original
- Before processing, remove the protective foil from the underside, and after processing, remove the foil from the top side (within 30 days at the latest).
- Pre-shape Leadax Original by hand and use a Leadax dresser or roller to mould it into place.
- An overlap (80 mm) can be made using hot air (400–450 °C) or with Leadax High-Tack Sealant (MS polymer). Use the Leadax roller to press the seam firmly.
- In areas and locations with high wind exposure, fix Leadax Original with Leadax High-Tack sealant.
- When moulded or used as facing material, we recommend securing with Leadax High-Tack sealant.
- Leadax Original can be fastened to joints using Leadax fixing clips.
- Leadax Original is suitable for use with various substrates, provided they are clean, dry, and free of grease. For fixation on these substrates, use Leadax High-Tack sealant only (not hot air).
- Leadax Original is suitable for all 15-, 18-, and 20-pound sheet lead applications.
- On flat and low-pitched roofs, seams and edges must always be sealed with Leadax High-Tack sealant.
Leadax Easy FA
- Leadax Easy FA should be applied at temperatures above 5 °C.
- Always make sure the surface is dry and free of dust and grease before applying Leadax Easy FA.
- Pre-shape Leadax Easy FA by hand and/or roller.
- Remove the releaseliner always in one smooth and swift motion. After applying the first section, remove the second part of the releaseline and apply the second section.
- An overlap (80 mm) can be made by placing a strip of Leadax Easy FA on top of another strip and pressing it down with your hands. Make sure that the strip on which the overlap is being made is dry and free of dust and grease. Use a cleaning wipe with alcohol for this.
- After processing, the protective foil must be removed within 30 days.
- Leadax Easy FA can be used in combination with most types of surfaces, provided that they are clean, dry and free of dus and grease. For flat and slightly pitched roofs, we recommend using Leadax Original, provided the seams and edges are sealed with Leadax High-Tack.
