Using today's waste to prevent global waste forever
From plastic waste to raw material
The way we produce and consume can and must change. Because our earth’s resources are being depleted and we also want our children to have a bright future. Therefore we offer roofing materials, made from plastic waste, to ensure that the waste never returns. Roofing materials with a future.
Together with our global partners, we provide building professionals with the products they need, taking into account the limits of our earth. Products that are easy to use, of high quality and affordable. But that are also circular and sustainable.
By continuing to innovate, we can continue to improve the quality and level of sustainability of our products. For people and planet.
We believe it is not only important that our products are of the highest quality, but also that we leave behind a livable planet.
Leadax is the first and only lead substitute in the world to be certified by KIWA, setting the standard.
At the end of its life, our products can be recycled and reused for new Leadax products.
Using today’s waste to prevent global waste forever
“From a young age, I developed and sold waterproofing products from bitumen with my company Bitufa. This eventually led to a production facility that sold products all over the world. For example, the materials have been used in many notable projects such as the TOGG factory in Turkey and the Emirates Towers in Dubai.
I realized, as did others, that companies affiliated with the linear economy were depleting the earth’s resources, there was a huge plastic waste problem, and that we needed to make the move to a circular economy. To make this happen, we had to change. For this reason Leadax was founded.”

From the new lead to Roov
The genesis of our sustainable roofing materials started in 2014 when we started looking for a sustainable raw material for our lead replacement that is also recyclable at the end of its life.
We stumbled upon polyvinyl butyral (PVB), a type of plastic used in safety glass, such as car windows and building glass. This plastic film is very strong and ensures, for example, that a car window does not break into a thousand pieces when a stone hits it while driving. When this window is replaced, the plastic waste ends up in a landfill or in an incinerator. In other words, unused waste. A great pity for such a strong raw material. That’s why we decided to give PVB a different purpose.
After a years-long process of research, development and intensive testing, we launched our first lead substitute made from recycled PVB in 2017: ‘Leadax Original’. Since then, our range of lead replacements has grown rapidly and we also offer two self-adhesive lead replacements: Leadax Easy FA and Leadax Easy SA.
But it didn’t stop there. There is so much plastic PVB waste available, that Leadax started thinking even bigger. Again after an intensive research phase, at the World Expo in Dubai we introduced probably the world’s most sustainable roofing material* from that same plastic waste: Leadax Roov.
