Application instructions Leadax Flashing
Leadax Original
• Leadax Original can be applied in roll lengths of six meter without needing an overlap. Temperature changes have little or no effect on the expansion or contracting of the product. Leadax Original can be installed from -20 °C, but could be more difficult to process. The ideal installation temperature is from 5 °C upwards.
• Always make sure the surface is dry and free of grease and dust before applying Leadax Original.
• An overlap (80 mm) can be made by using hot air or Leadax high-tack sealant. The recommended welding temperature is 400-420 °C, depending on the ambient temperature. Use the roller to press down the welding seam.
• In places and areas which are frequently exposed to wind, Leadax Original can be secured using a Leadax high-tack sealant. When moulded or used as facing material, we recommend securing with Leadax high-tack sealant. Also use Leadax high-tack sealant to seal off any edges and seams.
• Leadax Original can be fastened to joints using Leadax fixing clips.
• Use your hands to preform Leadax Original and a lead dresser or roller to mould it into place.
• After application, remove the protective film from the face and reverse.
• Leadax Original is suitable with all types of roofing materials (EPDM, bitumen, plastics and metals). On these materials, only use Leadax high-tack sealant for fixation (no hot air).
• The product is designed to dismantle, which means that it can be recycled at the end of its service life. The materials can be reclaimed and used for new Leadax products.
• Leadax Original can be used on all lead code 5 applications. However, for flat and low-slope roofs the edges and seams need to be sealed with Leadax high-tack sealant.
Leadax Easy FA
• Leadax Easy FA is five meters long and can be applied in one length without overlap. Temperature has little or no effect on the expansion or contraction of the product and it has a high wind resistance. Leadax Easy FA can be ideally processed at an ambient temperature of 5 °C upwards.
• Always make sure the surface is dry and free of dust and grease before applying Leadax Easy FA.
• Remove the first part of the release liner. Preform Leadax Easy FA with your hands and use the Leadax roller to press it down. After processing the first part, remove the second part of the release liner. The second part can now be processed.
• An overlap (80mm) can be made by placing a strip of Leadax Easy FA on top of another strip and pressing it down with your hands, and then with a Leadax roller. Also make sure that the strip on which the overlap is being made is dry and free of dust and grease.
• After processing, remove the protective foil.
• Leadax Easy FA can be used in combination with all kinds of roofing material (EPDM, bitumen, plastics and metals). For flat and slightly pitched roofs, we recommend using Leadax Original, provided the seams and edges are completely sealed with Leadax High-Tack.
• The product is designed to dismantle, which means that it can be recycled at the end of its lifecycle. The materials can be reclaimed and used for new Leadax products.
Leadax Easy SA
• Leadax Easy SA is five meters long and can be applied in one length without overlap. Temperature has little or no effect on the expansion or contraction of the product and it has a high wind resistance. Leadax Easy SA can be ideally processed at an ambient temperature of 5 °C upwards.
• Always make sure the surface is dry and free of dust and grease before applying Leadax Easy SA.
• Remove the first part of the release liner. Preform Leadax Easy SA with your hands and use the Leadax roller to press it down. After processing the first part, remove the second part of the release liner. The second part can now be processed.
• An overlap can be made by shortening the size of the overlap (recommended: 80 mm) on the adhesive strips, applying Leadax high-tack sealant on the surface area and then placing the strip of Leadax Easy SA on top of the other strip, so that an overlap is created. Press it down with your hands, and then with a Leadax roller. Alternatively, an overlap can be made with hot air, after the adhesive strips have been shortened as explained before (recommended: 80 mm). The
recommended welding temperature is 400-420 °C, depending on the ambient temperature. Firmly press down the welding seam with a Leadax roller.
• After processing, remove the protective foil.
• Leadax Easy SA can be used in combination with all kinds of roofing material (EPDM, bitumen, plastics and metals).
